Renaming gta_sa.exe

is there any way to rename gta_sa.exe without getting this error?

need to rename it to TeamViewer.exe or Skype.exe so that my company's time tracker won't be able to detect it.  :not bad:

I only know the way to install the samp addon, it's on russian, but it lets you rename executable and also has built in anti-afk (no black screen on pause and no freeze on minimize)

This error is because after you changed it, the SAMP can't locate the executable and the message is pretty clear: "Locate it now."
The name doesn't matter, just locate the executable.

What you need to do now is this:
1. Open SAMP.
2. Click on Tools. -> Settings.
3. In "San Andreas Installation Location" click on the paste and locate the "gta_sa.exe" that you renamed to "whatever.exe."
4. Click in Save. -> Select the server that you want to play.

Get some injector which is able to startup the game and inject the samp.dll right away it should be also able to pass process arguments for sa-mp's connection info (gta_sa.exe -c -n NAME -h IP -p PORT) tell me if you had any luck.

Thanks sir   But this ain't useless acutally because is just happned to me a few days ago   Fixed it by installing gta_sa.exe from GTAFORUMS.COM

Ok so I figured out how to do it.

For those of you who might find it useful, here's what I did.

1. Rename your gta_sa.exe to whatever floats your boat
2. Open regedit
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > SAMP
4. Modify the string gta_sa_exe's data: 

In my case, I renamed it to Skype.exe
